The power source. Dynamics, handling, stability

Only if requested we are providing manufacturer’s specification for the engines of the vehicles restored in our workshop. We always carry out the minimal performance improving or the characteristics optimisation.

Considering the Austin’s serial 6-cylinder engine this is not an easy task, since there is not enough room within the scope of the post-manufactured camshafts or pistons. This way we made them according to the parameters designed by us. Our objective was to reach the 200 HP performance by maintaining the factory’s cylinder head and with a momentum around 300Nm. On the motor block we performed crack checking, deck flat grinding, boring to the first oversize and honing, boring the main caps and camshaft tunnel in line, crankshaft grinding and polishing with a proper oil film adjusting. We degreed and honed the connecting rods. We built in high volume oil pump, stronger timing chain, forged pistons with a contents of 16% silicon and less heat-dilatation and higher compression as well as forged steel camshaft. The cylinder head was assembled with new blocks, valve-springs, stainless valves, flat roller rockers. Instead of the factory’s intake and the two SU carburettors we applied three Weber 45 DCOEs. We paid special attention to the motor1s appearance. When preparing the Austin motors’ specific metallic-green shade we used the manufacturer’s motor colour code and after the epoxi foundation we did the polishing. We also have renovated and polished the gear-box and overdrive. The cardan and rear end were also fully renovated, with dust-painted cover, new crosses, ball bearings and wadding.
